Hello,
I am Reverend Gene Thompson, pastor of White Oak Presbyterian Church. We are glad that you are interested in visiting our website. White Oak has served the Kenly, Lucama, Fremont town-ships for over 100 years. In those 100 years God has preserved and defended her as His body.
We are a small body of believers of varied backgrounds. We have served farmers, businessmen and women, laborers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, and military personnel of all ranks. Our people come from various distances to worship each week, probably an average of 25 miles. Some come from Wilson, Goldsboro, Pinetops, Snow Hill, Princeton, Bailey, Pikeville, Black Creek, and Lucama.
Our church is confessional, holding to the Westminster Confession of Faith with its Shorter and Larger Catechisms.
Having our roots in the Protestant Reformation we maintain
Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone),
Sola Fide (Faith Alone),
Sola Gratia (Grace Alone),
Sola Christo (Christ Alone),
Sola Gloria Deo (To the Glory of God Alone)
In line with this, our worship emphasizes the Word of God alone. We sing the Word in hymns and Psalms, pray the Word, read the Word, preach the Word, and visualize the Word in the only word picture that God commands -- the Sacraments of the Word, being Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
